We are looking for muralists to participate in our 2024 Putnam County Mural Fest!

The Putnam County Mural Project team is excited to announce the 2024 Putnam County Mural Festival, which will take place this September. Since 2019, our team has commissioned nine murals across our community in Putnam County, IN. This year's festival will be our second, with the first having been held in 2022. Through this work, we are inviting mural artists to join us in continuing to engage the public in meaningful mural-making, with plans to install seven new murals across Putnam County. 

We are more than just a public art organization. We believe murals have the ability to transform communities by celebrating heritage, creating civic pride, and enriching lives through participatory art-making. This is best accomplished when murals are used to activate spaces in areas that are otherwise overlooked, and the community is engaged in thoughtful ways. Interested applicants are highly encouraged to review our previous work, mission statement, and community goals before applying.

Chosen artists will be asked to work in tandem with the PCMP team in order to produce work that is reflective of and responsive to the Putnam County community. Fall 2024 Putnam County Mural Festival chosen artists will be required to sign a contract that outlines the needs and responsibilities of their work leading up to and throughout the festival itself. The timeline below outlines important due dates throughout the process for selected artists.

Timeline for the Mural Festival: ​

• March 25, 2024: Applications Open

• April 26, 2024, 11:59pm EST: Artist Application Deadline

• April 26-May 3, 2024: Application Review Process

• May 9, 2024: Selected Artists Notified

• June 15, 2024, 11:59pm EST: Draft designs due to PCMP 

• June 15-20, 2024: Artists will receive feedback on draft designs from PCMP 

• June 30, 2024, 11:59pm EST: Final designs due to PCMP

• July 1-5, 2024: Feedback from PCMP on final designs

• July 15, 2024: Materials listing and needs submitted to PCMP, ALL materials for completion of mural MUST be ordered by this date by artists. 

• August - September 7, 2024: Wall prep completed by PCMP on all participating walls. 

• September 7 - September 21, 2024: Mural Festival, all walls must be completed during this time.
