frequently asked questions...
I am an artist interested in applying for this project, how do I submit my work?
On June 3, 2019, we will release a request for qualifications (RFQ) to any artist interested in this project. Our final day of accepting submissions will be June 28, 2019.
Due to the scope and scale of this project, we will be looking for applicants who have prior experience with painting medium to large-scale murals, are comfortable operating a 70ft boom lift, carry their own insurance, and are willing to interact with the community in a positive and inclusive manner.
If you would like to be alerted once we've opened our application process, please sign up to be added to our email list below. Be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram too!
I have a really cool idea for the mural design. Can I submit my design prior to the application process?
Unfortunately, we are unable to accept unsolicited design renderings or concepts until an artist has been selected for the mural. We appreciate your excitement regarding this project and encourage you to apply! At the very least, please join us at one of our community voting booths to participate in the artistic selection of the mural.
I've never heard of the Putnam County Mural Project. Is this thing new?
Our project began in October 2018 when the Putnam County Visitors Bureau tourism director, Eric Freeman, assembled an advisory committee to determine a public art project as part of their larger effort to implement a series of beautification projects in Putnam County.
From there, a small working committee was established (what would later become the Putnam County Mural Project) and after a few changes to the initial plans, we set the audacious goal to produce one of Indiana's largest murals right here in Putnam County.
The Putnam County Visitors Bureau currently serves as the fiscal agent of the Putnam County Mural Project.
I own property in Putnam County and would like to donate my wall for a future mural project. Whom should I contact?
Please email us a picture of the "canvas" and a street address to email@example.com.
How do I stay up-to-date with upcoming events and announcements about the project?
